History
Europeans settled the area that became known as the Lebanon Township. Because of increasing difficulty in getting attention from the county seat at the time, the people in the area decided to form a new township and annexed the southern portion of the Lebanon Township and renamed that area Clinton, after the largest settlement in the area. In 1806, the state completed the construction of two toll roads for the purpose of improving transportation. The population of the Township remained the same for almost 100 years. It was a successful farming community but in 1950 after a severe drought, plans were made to use Round Valley as a reservoir. Farms were eliminated and the reservoir was built. Today the Township is an invigorated and energized community with a school district that is much in demand by families with school age children.
